We must develop the right attitudes and beliefs. You may already be "the converted" but we will get to the nitty gritty practical stuff in upcoming issues.  Motivation - Inspiration for Life!

"Inspiration" In-spi-ra-tion [in-spuh-rey-shun]: n.
1. a. Stimulation of the mind or emotions to a high level of feeling or activity.

At Focus we know that better health and fitness does provide inspiration for a better life on so many levels. This article is intended to help you deepen your philosophy and improve your attitudes toward your own health and fitness - or maybe you can pass it on to someone who needs to reflect on their health, fitness and Life. No matter what your dominant or preferred existence may involve (and life involves all levels) better health and fitness helps.

SPIRITUAL - no matter what your religion or spiritual outlook this level of being delves into our ultimate nature and purpose. Spiritual existence suggests an outward connection with the world and also inward connection with who we are and what we are doing here? No matter whether your beliefs are completely self-serving (pleasure/experience/luxury/things/taking) or completely self-giving (love/service/giving/teaching) one thing is for sure - you can have more or be more for yourself and others with better health and fitness. If you are not optimising your health and fitness you are not optimising your spiritual life.

EMOTIONAL - Do you think our emotions affect our feelings, thoughts and behaviour? Our feelings thoughts and behaviour is pretty much who we are (and definitely who we seem to be to others). Emotions affect our mood, temperament, personality and disposition. Do you think we should try to improve ourselves in any of these areas for ourselves and those around us? Or put another way - do you want more happiness in your life? Start with your health and fitness!

INTELLECTUAL - For intellectual types i say "Mens Sana In Corpore Sano" (Latin for a Healthy Mind in a Healthy Body). With better health and fitness comes better ability to learn, reason, plan, problem solve, and create. The intellect relates to personality, character, knowledge and wisdom... and health and fitness.

PHYSICAL - yes better health and fitness improves you physically. Your looks, your feel, your function, even your senses can be heightened by tuning your body. You can prolong death and have the capability and freedom in all areas of your life.

SUPERFICIAL - Want to be better looking? Nicer skin? Nicer curves? Nicer muscles? Less fat? Want to be more sexy? Want to wear a nice dress or swimsuit or Speedos? Great! All worthy goals - get in the gym!
There is not one area of your life that will not benefit form better health and fitness! I hope you can use some of these beliefs to make your health and fitness an inspiration in your life!
