Member policies
Welcome
Welcome to the Focus family. We hope you find everything you need in our centres and service to help you enjoy better health, fitness and life.
If you ever have any problems or feedback please email ryan@focusfit.com.au
We have the following guidelines and policies to encourage the best atmosphere and comfort for everyone
Getting started
- Member ID – You should receive a membership ID card within the first week of your membership. For your service and security it is compulsory to use your pass every time you come to the club. If you lose your card you will need to order a new one at reception for $5.
- Lockers - If you would like to borrow a locker, just leave your card with the staff at reception and they will give you a key. If you forget your card you will need to leave your drivers license or other security item in return for a key. We provide a free locker system to keep the centre clear of bags and other items. If an item doesn’t fit in the lockers reception will arrange other storage for you.
- Security boxes – We recommend you leave valuables in a security box at reception (keys, wallet, watches, phones etc)
- Personal Training Sessions – It is important that you are on time for your personal training sessions, as they will often have someone scheduled right after you. There is a recommended 24 hour cancellation notice period. If you do not show up for your appointment without giving notice, or if you cancel within six hours of the scheduled time, that session will be taken off your total number of sessions.
- Hygiene - Please use a towel on the equipment at all times; even if you’re not planning on getting sweaty. If you forget your towel you will be asked to hire one at reception for $2. Please also wipe down machines after use.
- Etiquette – Please consider others and replace your weights after use. Do not use exercise machines or benches for resting on or for holding towels etc. Do not “occupy” more than one machine at once. Share weights/machines where possible and consider your language, breathing or noise around others.
- Entertainment - You can borrow radios to listen to the TV’s from reception but must bring your own ear plugs for hygienic reasons.
- Clothing - Wear appropriate clothing and footwear; joggers, walking shoes, soft soled shoes. (No work boots, or open-toed shoes allowed)
- Climate - If at any stage the temperature is too hot or too cold we encourage you to approach the staff, as we are more than happy to try and accommodate.(Sometimes it’s hard to tell if you’re not working out)
- Classes - Unfortunately if you are more than 5 minutes late for a class you will be unable to participate due to the safety guidelines; the warm-up is part of the preparation to prevent injuries.
- Guests - We do offer seven day trials for your guests however this is only within the first month of your membership (and is only available to people 16 years or older who have not visited the centre before). After your fi rst month you can bring a guest for a single visit but please advise reception in advance if it is their first time or if you would like to arrange a complimentary visit. If you do not let us know in advance, your guest will be asked to pay for a casual visit and we can arrange another time for their complimentary visit.
- Children - are not allowed in the gym with you unless they are on a program or attending the child minding within the specified hours. This is for their own safety and to be fair to all members.
- Membership freeze - A time freeze option is only available on 12 month or ongoing programs (once the minimum term has been completed). You may HOLD/FREEZE for a minimum of 2 WEEKS (14 DAYS) to a maximum of 3 MONTHS (90 DAYS) ONLY per year. All hold/freeze requests must be requested in writing (fax, email, at the club) before the date of commencement. It is the responsibility of the member to ensure that we receive all correspondence. For direct debited members the freeze must be submitted 7 days before the debit date. You cannot backdate time freeze.
- Direct Debits - The direct debit payment option has a minimum fixed term, during which the membership payments cannot be cancelled. If there are extenuating circumstances (medical certificate, moving interstate etc.) the management reserves the right to allow the member to cancel by paying any costs incurred PLUS a fee equal to 20% of the value of the total contract.
- Culture - Please bring a sense of humour to the club. We encourage you to try and approach your exercise with a positive attitude and be willing to laugh…even if it’s at the staff! From time to time we go a bit crazy but we promise it’s all in good fun. We also encourage you to let us know if you ever feel uncomfortable in our clubs for any reason.
