 Tired & Stressed? Read on!
FINE TUNING YOUR DIET & LIFESTYLE
One of the most common reasons for visiting a doctor today is fatigue/illness resulting from stress. And guess what the most common solution is? DRUGS! Unfortunately most drugs only deal with the symptons and not the cause.
Here are 11 everyday challenges causing stress/disease in our society and some simple things you can to avoid them. I’ll bet you can find at least 10 things you could do better. Note them and plan to make some changes - "THOUGHTS ARE NOTHING WITHOUT ACTION"
STRESS - stress is the most common source of disease for all people.
STRESS TIPS - Avoid negative relationships, take time out for yourself, realise what you eat can stress your body (avoid sugar, caffeine, pills etc)
SLEEP - unusual sleep patterns and upset circadian rythms can also lead to many health & energy problems
SLEEP TIPS - stick to regular sleep times, get 8 hours sleep per night, avoid stimulants at night, darken your room.
FAD DIETING - is unfortunately becoming a more common problem in society with people getting on the merry go round of diets claiming to make amazing changes that actually only product short term "results" with bad long term effects
DIET TIPS - make good nutrition choices/habits based high nutrient - natural, unprocessed foods part of your lifestyle (the alternative is disease)
BAD POSTURE - bad posture can both stress our body and is also a reflection of stress
POSTURE TIPS - awareness is key (posture is a second by second proposition), develop strength and flexibility, ensure work stations are set up properly.
POOR DIGESTION - can lead to constipation and other bowel, diet and lifestyle problems
DIGESTION TIPS - make meal times about food (not TV, conversation, meetings etc), chew well, make smart food choices, don’t over- eat
OVER TRAINING - training too much to make up for poor diet and lifestyle can also lead to stress and other problems.
TRAINING TIPS - Eat in a way that doesn’t require you to make up for it with training! Your diet should compliment your training not increase it
STIMULANT DRINKS - overuse of stimulants is a sign of ignorance in regard to where energy and health comes from
ENERGY TIPS - limit yourself to 2 coffees per day, do not drink other high sugar/high caffeine drinks at all (they give a short term fix with long term negativity)
MEAL TIMING - eating at odd times can cause blood sugar problems and hormone and stress problems as well as weight gain
MEAL TIPS - make a plan for when to eat which suits your lifestyle and goals, prepare your meals to suit your plan
FUNGUS - fungal problems usually occur as a result of excess sugar consumption and can appear in many different unsightly and unhealthy ways
FUNGAL TIPS - read Paul Chek’s book "How to Eat, Move and Be Healthy"
FOOD QUALITY - the need for convenience and quick fix sometimes outweighs the need for good nutrition in our society
FOOD TIPS - Eat to live don’t live to eat, wake up and stay awake to the fact that a little time and effort is required for the sake of your health, choose nutritious natural, unprocessed foods.
OVERUSE OF AEROBICS - overuse of aerobic exercise can actually lead to an increase in stress hormones in the body
AEROBIC TIPS - If you love running, riding etc great but make REST and RECOVERY AND PROPER NUTRITION a part of your plan
One of the most common reasons for visiting a doctor today is fatigue and illness resulting from stress. Stress can be easy to avoid with the right thinking and action.

For better health, fitness and life. Ryan

Sports Team Training

Does your sports team training get washed out?

Ours Doesn’t! We’ve been getting great success and feedback from local sports teams who can’t use their fields but love the cross-training of boxing fitness, core & stretch and boot camp style workouts to keep their training up.

We have had super league soccer teams, net-ballers and weekend rugby hackers so if your team needs some training options I’m sure we can help.

Another BIG GYM opens

We have been getting allot of questions lately about the fact that another big gym is opening and “are we worried? etc”
So i thought I would share with you our thoughts about who we are, how we help people and why the answer is "no we’re not worried".
The reason we are not worried is because we are not just another gym. We are a personal training gym which means we take a different approach to ALL big gyms and we are proud to say that we know that our clubs provides a greater success rate than ALL big gyms. Unfortunately we are not perfect and we still fail some people and allow them to fail themselves with their health and fitness dreams BUT I do know the retention rates of most gyms and I am proud to say ours are much higher (which indicates better success and lifestyle change). I am also proud to say we know our members names, families, goals and attendance and as a team honestly care about all of the people we help and want them to experience better health, fitness and life and want them feel that their life is better because we are in it.
I also want to take this opportunity say our approach is THE BEST APPROACH to helping people achieve their health and fitness dreams (according to my opinion and that of sports scientists and statistics all around the world). By combining personal training with membership we are able to give YOU what works (personal training) as well as great facilities to use at your leisure. This training approach is the best approach for anyone wanting help with their health and fitness goals because it allows us to be more comprehensive and progressive with your goals. We can meet you where you currently are and show the way to get to where you want to be. Our approach incorporates motivation, training and nutrition and most importantly we also keep you accountable (via program reviews, health checks, emails, calls etc) and that is the clincher – that is what works for people – what really works is a natural, logical, progressive approach that you are kept accountable to. It works for elite athletes and EVERYONE below elite. There will NEVER be any stupid pill, machine, product or BIG GYM that can replace a holistic and balanced approach to better health and fitness. So don’t get sucked in (and don’t let your friends get sucked in) by the MARKETING and bright lights of the latest pill, product or gym in fancy packaging. The ideal approach should be tailored to the individual (everyone has different needs, problems and goals) and that means getting plugged into a class or program as your core plan cannot be ideal.
Better health, fitness and life is about making changes that lead you closer to your dreams and make you happier with who you are and how you feel – I believe professional people promoting motivation, training, nutrition & lifestyle change are still a most important and effective part of that process (more important than corporations and marketers) and at Focus we are all proud, happy and grateful to be able to help all of you in that way.
The only thing that would worry us would be if you lost faith in any one of our ability to lead you towards your health and fitness goals - if that’s the case please let me know asap.
