The Ponds is one of the Hills District’s fastest-growing communities — young families, busy professionals, and people who take their health seriously. If you’re looking for a personal trainer in The Ponds, you want more than a gym membership. You want structure, expertise, and coaching that actually fits around your life.
At Focus Health & Fitness, we coach adults in The Ponds and across the north-west Hills District from a private studio in Norwest — under 15 minutes away via Windsor Road. Our approach is personal, structured, and built around your body, your history, and your goals.
We work with three types of people, and you’ll likely recognise yourself in one of them.
The Rebuilder You’ve had an injury, a health scare, or a long break from exercise. You want to get back to feeling strong and capable — but you need a coach who understands how to work with your body, not push through it. Our post on how strength training helps prevent injuries explains exactly how we approach returning clients.
The Intelligent Beginner You’re motivated and health-conscious — you just haven’t found the right structure or the right coach. You want to understand why you’re doing what you’re doing, not just follow instructions. Read our guide to functional fitness — it explains the foundation of how we train every new client.
The High Performer You’re already active but want to train smarter. You’re in your 40s, 50s or beyond and thinking about the long game — staying strong, mobile and healthy for the decades ahead. Our philosophy on movement as medicine drives everything we do for this group.
If you recognise yourself in any of these, we’re probably a good fit.
Private studio, not a commercial gym. No crowds, no noise, no waiting. Our boutique studio at Norwest Business Park is a straightforward drive from The Ponds via Windsor Road — close enough to make it part of your weekly routine, and a world away from any public gym environment.
A whole-person approach. We look beyond what happens in the session. How you move, how you eat, how you sleep, how stress is affecting your body — all of it shapes your results. Our holistic approach to stress and energy is built into every program we write. This is why our clients get lasting change, not just a few good weeks.
30 years coaching Hills District locals. Ryan holds a Bachelor of Health Science and has been working with this community for over 30 years. Maja brings 20 years of experience and a coaching style that’s warm, perceptive, and genuinely personalised. Between them they’ve worked with everyone from first-time exercisers to clients managing complex health conditions.
Programs built around you. No two clients at Focus train the same way. Your program is designed around your body, your goals, and your life — and it evolves as you do.
“I have been training with Ryan for over 3 years a few times a week and keep motivated to come back every week not to let him down. He is professional and knows his craft, but also quickly gets an understanding of how his clients learn and what pace is sensible for them. A lovely guy with a great sense of humour — the best trainer I have trained with.” Rob McCartney
“Focus Health and Fitness has been helping me achieve my strength and fitness goals. The programs are suited to my needs and the sessions are very informative. The variety of exercises and info ensures that I’m learning how to better strengthen my body, and my progression has been amazing. Thank you both, Ryan and Maja.” Mark Spokes
“Maja and Ryan are amazing. Their passion, dedication and enthusiasm is limitless. They know their stuff. I have achieved so much with Ryan, both mentally and physically.” Kath Jones
“I am extremely impressed with my sessions with Maja. She is friendly, welcoming, and very knowledgeable. She has identified my needs and created a program I can continue at home. I am really pleased that I found someone to help me achieve my fitness goals.” Maria Buzzo
