If you’re looking for personal training in Norwest or across the Hills District, you probably have questions before taking the next step. We’ve answered the most common ones here — honestly and in full. If something isn’t covered, get in touch directly.
About Focus Health & Fitness
What makes Focus Health & Fitness different from a regular gym?
Focus is a private personal training studio — not a gym. There are no membership crowds, no waiting for equipment, and no training alone hoping you’re doing it right. Every session is one-on-one with a qualified trainer who knows your history, your goals, and your body. We’ve been operating in the Hills District for over 20 years, and many of our clients have been with us for a decade or more. That kind of retention doesn’t happen by accident.
Where is Focus Health & Fitness located?
Our studio is located at G02/7 Maitland Place, Norwest NSW 2153 — in the heart of Norwest Business Park. Free visitor parking is available at the front of the building on Columbia Way. Undercover basement parking is also available if needed. We serve clients from across the Hills District including Norwest, Bella Vista, Castle Hill, Kellyville, Rouse Hill, Glenhaven, and Baulkham Hills.
Is Focus family-owned and operated?
Yes. Focus is owned and run by Ryan and Maja Fraser. Ryan has over 30 years of personal training experience and holds a Bachelor of Health Science. Maja has 20 years in the fitness industry and is a certified personal trainer. When you train at Focus, you’re working directly with the owners — not a rotating roster of casual staff. That consistency is something our long-term clients tell us they value most. You can learn more about the team on our
Ryan and
Maja profile pages.
Training & Programming
Do you work with people who have injuries or chronic pain?
This is one of our core specialities. Our team has worked with clients managing everything from post-surgical rehabilitation to decades-long chronic pain — and has seen clients become pain-free after years of struggling. We take a thorough intake process seriously, ask detailed questions about your history, and adapt programming around what your body needs right now. If anything changes session to session, we adjust. We work closely alongside GPs, physiotherapists, and allied health professionals across the Hills District.
I haven’t exercised in years. Is Focus right for me?
Absolutely — and this describes a significant portion of our clients. Coming back to exercise after a long break, whether from injury, life demands, or simply drifting away, requires more care and intelligence than starting fresh. We meet you exactly where you are and build from there at a pace that gets results without setting you back. There’s no judgment here, only a focus on moving forward.
What age groups do you work with?
Everyone from teenagers to clients in their 90s. Our trainers have worked with international-level athletes and 90-year-olds wanting to stay independent — often in the same week. Our approach to programming is genuinely individualised, which means age is never a barrier. Many of our clients are busy adults in their 40s, 50s, and 60s who want to stay strong, mobile, and healthy for the long term.
Do you offer personal training for women going through perimenopause or menopause?
Yes, and this is an area Maja specialises in. The hormonal changes of perimenopause and menopause have a direct impact on body composition, bone density, energy, and recovery — and most generic training programs don’t account for this at all. We programme specifically around these changes, with an emphasis on strength training, load management, and recovery. The research consistently shows this approach produces the best outcomes for women in this phase of life.

Do you offer yoga or stretching classes?
Yes. We offer RYoga — a yoga-based stretch and mobility class developed at Focus to address the most common tight spots, postural imbalances, and movement restrictions we see in everyday people and athletes alike. RYoga complements strength training well and is suitable for a wide range of people, including those managing pain or injury. More details at our
RYoga page.
Do you offer personal training for weight loss?
Yes. Weight loss — particularly for adults over 40 — is one of the most common goals we work with. Our approach goes beyond calories and cardio. We focus on building the strength and metabolic foundation that makes fat loss sustainable long-term, rather than the cycle of short-term results and regression that most people experience with generic programs. We also integrate practical nutrition principles that fit real life in the Hills District — not extreme plans that fall apart within weeks.
Getting Started
How do I get started at Focus?
The first step is a conversation. Use our
contact page to reach us and we’ll get back to you promptly. We’ll talk through your goals, your history, and whether Focus is the right fit for you. There’s no pressure and no hard sell — if we’re not the right solution for what you need, we’ll tell you honestly.
What should I bring to my first session?
A full-length towel (compulsory), a drink bottle, and comfortable training clothes with enclosed footwear. If you have any medical history, injury reports, or recent test results relevant to your training, bring those too — the more context we have early, the faster we can programme effectively for you.
Is parking available at the Norwest studio?
Yes. Free visitor parking is available at the front of the building on Columbia Way, Norwest. If that’s full, undercover parking is available in the basement — enter via Columbia Way and follow the red arrow signage. Take the lift to Ground Floor, Suite G.02. Full directions are on our
Welcome page.
Do you offer corporate or group training options?
Yes. We work with businesses and corporate teams, particularly given our location within Norwest Business Park. If you’re an employer looking at staff wellness, or an individual whose employer supports health and fitness through an EAP or wellness program,
contact us to discuss what’s available.
Why Focus
Why should I choose Focus over other personal trainers in Norwest or the Hills District?
A few things set us apart that are genuinely difficult to replicate. First, experience — our trainers bring decades of real-world coaching experience, backed by formal qualifications including a Bachelor of Health Science. That depth of knowledge changes the quality of programming and the safety of your training. Second, the private studio environment — you train without an audience, in a space designed entirely around your session. Third, continuity — as a family-owned studio, the same people who built Focus are the ones training you. Our client retention record spans close to 20 years. We’re not the cheapest option in Norwest or the Hills District. But for people who are serious about long-term results, we’re consistently the right one.
Do you offer personal training near me in the Hills District?
